SAMPIT, RAKYATKALTENG – Anggota Komisi II DPRD Kabupaten Kotawaringin Timur (Kotim), Syahbana mendorong agar adanya program pemberdayaan kebun rotan dan karet milik masyarakat. Sebab, selama ini sektor itu cenderung terabaikan dari perhatian untuk hal pemberdayaannya.
“Memang kedepannya bagaimana pola pemberdayaan terhadap petani karet dan rotan ini dilakukan. Karena selama ini bisa dikatakan luput dari perhatian sehingga kita perlu melakukan terobosan agar bagaimana caranya rotan dan karet ini tetap jadi komoditas unggulan yang diberdayakan, “kata Syahbana.
Menurutnya, kebun rotan dan karet bisa saja terancam hilang seiring invansi dari sektor usaha perkebunan besat swasta. Selama ini kelapa sawit menjadi primadona yang digemari lantaran harga karet dan rotan itu memang jauh dari harapan petani.
“Jangan sampai kebun rotan dan karet kita hanya tinggal kenangan karena harga murah dan petani menggantinya dengan tanaman kelapa sawit. Saya berkeyakinan bahwa rotan dan karet punya masa depan yang bagus dan cerah. Apalagi program infrastruktur aspal karet itu sudah mulai dilaksanakan,”tegasnya
Kualitas rotan asal Kabupaten Kotim sebagai yang terbaik di dunia membuat rotan ini diincar importir di luar negeri padahal larangan ekspor rotan mentah masih berlaku.
“Mungkin semua tahu bahwa rotan dari Sampit merupakan rotan yang terbaik di dunia. Dijaga keluar tapi ternyata data impor di luar negeri itu ada impor rotan dari Indonesia,” kata Kepala Kantor Pengawasan dan Pelayanan Bea dan Cukai Tips Madya Pabean C Sampit, Indasah.
Pemerintah pusat telah memberlakukan larangan ekspor rotan mentah sejak akhir 2011. Namun belakangan ini, hasil penelusuran pemerintah, masih ditemukan rotan Indonesia yang masuk ke negara tetangga, yang diperkirakan merupakan rotan berasal dari Kalimantan Tengah dan Kalimantan Selatan.
Temuan inilah yang membuat Bea Cukai Sampit kembali intens mengawasi pengiriman rotan mentah. Koordinasi dilakukan dengan petugas di perbatasan, baik darat maupun jalur sungai atau laut. Penyelundupan rotan diduga menggunakan kapal-kapal kecil dibawa ke laut sekitar Kepulauan Natuna, baru kemudian diselundupkan ke luar negeri, khususnya ke Malaysia.(hun)
